Holidays on Peachtree
December 2011 held a festive, captive audience for Midtown residents, visitors and shoppers in Atlanta for the holiday season. 999 Peachtree took part in Holidays on Peachtree, which was a holiday celebration in collaboration with the entire Midtown Mile. On December 1st the festivities opened with a kick-off party featuring Clothing Warehouse, DREWLEWIS, Revolution 11 and En Paris. There was complimentary wine and cheese served, and carolers strolled up and down the street serenading the shoppers. The food and drink were courtesy of Perrine’s Wine Shop and Empire State South. DREWLEWIS’s first private label was debuted during the kick-off party. December 2 – 3 special pop –up vendors set up shop on the Midtown Mile, such as Olive, Pieces of Me, Lisa Jill JHewelry, Kristi Hyde and JuneBug. Shoppers were able to enjoy perusing for local and unique items for gifts or for themselves, while also sampling Sinless Cocktails and Rockin’ Cupcakes!
Holidays on Peachtree lasted throughout the month of December, so guests could revel in the holiday spirit. Additional activities included:

- Atlanta Botanical Gardens’ “Garden Lights – Holiday Nights”
- High Museum of Art’s Picasso to Warhol exhibition
- “A Christmas Carol” at Alliance Theatre
- “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at Fox Theatre
- “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” at Center for Puppetry Arts
- “Handel’s Messiah” at Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
- Events and Specials hosted by the Peachtree street retailers, particularily Clothing Warehouse, Revolution 11,
DREWLEWIS, and En Paris, lighting up 999 Peachtree and Shops of Metropolis
Holidays on Peachtree was a great success with hundreds of midtown residents, visitors and shoppersgathering together to enjoy the season with family, friends, holiday activities, good food and retail along the Midtown Mile.
Midtown Market
The Midtown Mile has welcomed a new brand of farm-to-city fare! 999 Peachtree is proud to introduce the farm-fresh taste of the country to the big city by launching the Midtown Market each Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm. The Midtown Market will provide a refreshing take on the afternoon nosh or evening grocery shop. Vendors include TaylOrganics Farm fruits and vegetables, ManyFold Farm eggs, Bella Cucina pasta and sauce, Bakeshop breads, Ooh La Raw foods, The King of Pops and more! Anchoring the Midtown Market is Empire State South which will offer a "Farmers' Happy Hour" each week. To learn more, check out Midtown Market on Facebook.
Empire State South
999 Peachtree is proud to be the home of award-winning chef Hugh Acheson's first Atlanta restaurant, now open, at 999 Peachtree. The new venture, Empire State South, is a contemporary and casual meat 'n' three restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A finalist for 2009's James Beard Foundation's Best Chefs in the Southeast award and named a Food & Wine Best New Chef in 2002, Acheson, who owns the acclaimed Athens, GA restaurants Five & Ten and The National, was an early proponent of fresh, local and responsible cuisine and is known for his support of such groups as Georgia Organics, Georgia Rivers Network and the Southern Foodways Alliance.
"Empire State South is a community restaurant focused on southern staples. It will make you crave okra, smothered pork chops, and collard greens," says Acheson. Under Chef Acheson's direction, ESS offers guests the opportunity to dine al fresco with a two sided indoor/outdoor bar. Cultivating an inviting atmosphere, ESS also features an herb garden and bocce ball court. Located at 999 Peachtree, breakfast and lunch are served weekdays, dinner is served Monday through Saturday and brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays.
